Where to go Skateboarding in Hong Kong?

Skateboarding is the act of rolling on or performing tricks with a skateboard.

Skateboarding can be an art, hobby, sport or a method of transportation. It is often portrayed in the media as an extreme sport, although this is criticized by some skaters. Because of its creative aspects, it can also be seen as an art form.

Hong Kong is one of the best spots for street skating. Since skate parks are built, skateboarders may no longer skate in public areas.

“Mei Foo Skate Park” is the biggest skate park in Hong Kong. It was already built by 2003, but it was only after a petition from local skaters (that included 446 signatures) that the park opened. It has half pipes, quarter pipes, kickers, rails and fun boxes on this 40,000 square feet park, lights turn off at 10pm, Government of the HKSAR operated and it’s free entrance for public. It is located in Lai Chi Kok Park in Kowloon west and can reach there by MTR.

“Morrison Hill Road Playground” is one of the oldest skate/bicycle parks, which is located in Wan Chai Morrison Hill on Hong Kong Island, just a very basic run but the location is so much in town and easy to get to, although is small but still lot of locals kids like to hang out there.

“Chai Wan Skate Park” Pool-side Garden . Those aged eight and above can use the facility free from 7am to 10pm daily. Adult supervision is recommended for users under 12. This skate park is located at 345 San Ha Street, Chai Wan, Hong Kong east. This park is only about 2000 square feet but it has a mini half pipe, fun boxes and rails.

“Morse Park” This Skate Park opened in 2010 and is located in Heng Lam Street, Wong Tai Sin, Kowloon east. This park is not big but the pipes and boxes are well built.

“Tung Chung Skate Park” is Hong Kong first bowl park built most recent and started to operated in mid 2010, good size bowl area and some fun boxes as well, Tung Chung is at Lantau Island near the airport, a newly developed new town with residential and shopping malls. This bowl park is next to “Hotel Novotel Hong Kong City Gate”.
