Where to go Windsurfing in Hong Kong?

Windsurfing first appeared in Hong Kong was at Stanley Main Beach in 1978, a English couple were using the Windgliders (one of the earliest stage windsurf board brand) cruising around the bay. Ken (X Game owner) picked up the sport a year after and started his sportsman career.

Windsurfing is a very popular sport in Hong Kong and grew dramatically from the 80’s to 90’s. Hong Kong team has won many Asian & World titles in the past including the Gold medal by Lee Lai San in the Olympics at Atlanta in 1996. The most popular spots are Stanley, Sai Kung, Cheung Chau, Tai Po and Tuen Mun. Windsurfing Association of Hong Kong (WAHK) has training courses to provide everybody who’s interested in windsurfing, you can check www.windsurfing.org.hk and they have a few Government owned windsurfing centers to run the courses. WAHK also trains numbers of youngsters to be the future stars for HK.

You can have your windsurfing gear store at the windsurfing centers on the beach and go sailing anytime you wish, the above mentioned windsurf spots all have storage facilities and what you need is wind.
